On 13-15 September 2022, the International Conference on Wildlife Conservation was held in Jakarta, organised by the Czech Republic as part of its EU Presidency together with the Indonesian G20 Presidency and the European Commission. The Czech ministerial delegation included experts from the Institute for Environmental Studies, Environmental Forensic Sciences Centre. The conference touched on issues such as the role of new technologies in biodiversity conservation, the use of forensic methods in wildlife crime investigations, projects to save endangered species, etc. The lecture part of the conference was followed by a field trip where participants planted new mangroves and participated in the release of rehabilitated birds back into the wild.
After the official program, CEFV staff, together with colleagues from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jakarta, also visited the wildlife market in Jakarta, where they had the opportunity to see the realities of the wildlife trade for themselves.
In cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Jakarta, we plan further professional cooperation with Indonesian partners in the future.
